This is the first piece that I have made specifically for sale on Etsy. It represents a large step for me in developing my business concepts for Plumbob. I am very happy with how this piece turned out and I hope someone enjoys using it sometime in the future. When I create any piece, I work from a shop full of parts that are forgotten and would otherwise be banished to the landfill. My shop is like a painters palette, and I take great joy in finding the right pieces to the puzzle I am working on. It is hugely satisfying to see a piece take shape and discover different elements that are sometimes purely chance. For example, This incense holder is completed by the cone incense when placed on top to burn, it just feels and looks right to me.
Incense have a mystical quality to them by making the invisible air visible in silence. It is a pensive few moments to burn incense, perhaps to take stock of your day, or this life. how ever small or grand, burning incense denotes something special. I think it is fitting that this is my first intentional piece to sell for Plumbob.
incense/candle holder: 1 of 5 in a design series
This is one of two similar incense/candle holders. This item is also my first creation specifically for sale on Etsy. It is a small token of a big step for my business concept; Plumbob. I am quite proud to present these to you.
This item is of a 5 part series of works based from the dismantled light fixture I replaced with my previous item for sale, "LightBox".
This holder was designed to burn cone incense(pictured) but could easily accommodate a candle as well. The handmade bolts are hollow, allowing air to travel underneath the cone allowing it to burn entirely. --This design element might allow burning incense to fall to the base; mind the surface you use!--
This piece would go well in a quiet corner or meditation/prayer spot. The metal cup at the top was made purposely sharp and jagged to remind us that we must be --careful with what is most important--
12 "tropical rain" cone incense included!
The list price of 40 dollars is only a suggested price. I will graciously accept any amount over the suggested price as a donation to help fund the start-up of Plumbob; a non-profit devoted to "green building" education and advocacy. Please visit the development blog at www.plumbob.org
